European Close Helmet is constructed from 18 gauge steel with a lacquered finish and features a separate visor and bevor, both of which are hinged and can be raised and lowered. Helmets like this were worn both during battles and tournaments. The helmet is provided with a crest holder and has a styled helmet peak, a classicist trend. The helmet has a large visor with air holes.

This reproduction of a typical early 16th-century tights helmet with hinged visor (known as helmet or close closure)  therefore only suitable for a combat re-enactment.

The close helmet or close helm is a type of combat helmet that was worn by knights and other men-at-arms in the Late Medieval and Renaissance eras. It was also used by some heavily armoured, pistol-armed cuirassiers into the mid-17th century. It is a fully enclosing helmet with a pivoting visor and integral bevor.
